RIFLA SPRING WORKSHOP 2014

Yes, You CAN!

TEACHING FOR PROFICIENCY: EMPOWERING STUDENTS IN ALL THREE MODES

WHY ATTEND?  Targeting proficiency levels in language performance will help educators to advance their programs and in turn better advocate for expanded language programs throughout the state of Rhode Island.

OVERVIEW:  Building proficiency** in all 3 modes of communication is attainable when teachers focus on what students CAN DO* with the language.  In this workshop participants will examine best practices to empower students by targeting an attainable, rigorous proficiency level while fostering a risk-taking environment.  Participants will receive sample work, rubrics and resources to plan units and assessments for proficiency. This workshop will provide valuable resources for participants at ALL levels of familiarity with teaching for proficiency.
