Keynote Address:
Adam Laliberte
RIFLA Teacher of the Year 2015
Adam Laliberte has been a Spanish educator at North Kingstown High School since 2005. He received his undergraduate degree in Spanish and Secondary Education from the University of Rhode Island. He also holds a Masters Degree in Spanish. Adam has also lived and studied abroad at both the Universidad de Salamanca and the Universidad de Sevilla.
At North Kingstown High School Adam has taught the entire range of available courses from Spanish 1 through AP Spanish Language and Culture. His students have consistently scored in the 4-5 range on the AP exam including a perfect passing rate in 2015. In 2014 Adam created and piloted a new course entitled, "Adaptive Spanish", a course for Life Skills students with severe Austism and Down's Syndrome. Adam has also helped to design a pathway at North Kingstown High School where Junior Year students will be able to access Advanced Placement Spanish Language and Culture and then advance to take AP Spanish Literature and Culture as Seniors. This program will be launched in the 2015-16 school year.
In addition to his teaching duties Adam has also coached the North Kingstown High School Varsity Softball Team since 2006. His teams have won State Championships in 2007 and 2014 and he has been named RI Division 1 Coach of the Year in 2013, 2014 and 2015. He has also led trips to Spain, Morocco, Costa Rica, Australia and Hawaii in his tenure.
